Several programs provide a range of options for supported living for disadvantaged young people including: Crisis accommodation (aged 15 - 24); Support in accommodation placements for those young people exiting institutions or young people leaving statutory care.
Barwon Youth (BAYSA Ltd.) was established in 1981 in response to the burgeoning numbers of young people from the Barwon Region being held in metropolitan Melbourne Youth Training Centres. As part of the deinstitutionalization strategy of the government of the day significant efforts to reintegrate young people to their own communities commenced.
