About the institution
Architectural Engineers work with architects to design the structural or services systems of modern buildings.

This course teaches you the processes behind making safe buildings, with a focus on sustainable design concepts. You will specialise in the planning, design and construction of:

* building environmental control
* life safety or
* building structural systems.

The degree includes studies in:

* architectural history and design of buildings
* air conditioning, lighting and electrical power distribution
* water supply and distribution
* fire and life safety systems
* sustainable building systems design
* building structures and building construction technology

During your study, you will work in the field on real problems and projects.

VU is the only University in Australia to offer Architectural Engineering and to receive full accreditation from Engineers Australia.

Application:
There are two main ways to apply for courses at Victoria University: through the Victoria Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTACVictorian Tertiary Admissions Centre) or by applying directly to VU.
Admission information:

The prerequisite subjects for admission into the first year of the course are based on entry at post Year 12, Victorian Certificate of Education, or equivalent level and are as follows. Persons transferring from other courses or having overseas or other entrance qualifications of at least equivalent standard should apply for admission in the normal manner. Full-fee paying international students must have qualifications which are equivalent to those listed above. In addition, they must provide evidence of proficiency in the English language:

* IELTS - an overall band score of 6+, subject to individual profile; or
* TOEFL - a score of 550+, and a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 5+.

Candidates applying for the award of Bachelor of Engineering (Architectural Engineering) must ensure that they have submitted for approval, evidence of having undertaken a minimum of 12 weeks industrial experience relevant to the course to satisfy Engineers Australia requirements.
Located within walking distance from the Footscray railway station, this campus occupies a seven-hectare site next to parklands along the Maribyrnong River. It is the administrative centre of the University and is the largest of all the campuses.

Take a train to Footscray station, or a local bus. It's 10 minutes by car from the city centre.
