This program has foundations in physics, mathematics, computer science and basic electrical engineering principles. The core skills develop the themes of electrical circuits, electronics and computer systems, signals and communications, power systems, control, energy systems and management.
Students undertaking this degree will specialise in Years Three and Four in advanced computer systems, computer networking, and software engineering.
A wide range of computer oriented electives are available, including artificial intelligence and integrated circuit design. Computer-based tutorials are another feature of this program.
Domestic Students
Applications for the University's undergraduate courses are made though the Universities Admission Centre (UAC).
On-time applications for the March Semester close on the last working day of September. On-time applications for the July Semester close in May (Note: not all courses are offered in the July semester intake). The Flexible Entry Scheme is available for current HSC applicants whose ATAR may fall up to a maximum of 5 points below the normal cut-off, depending on availability of places. Achievements or awards in Mathematics (not General), Physics, Chemistry, Information Technology, Engineering Science are assessed. Students must register their interest in Flexible Entry via the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies’ online form: http://www.eng.usyd.edu.au/apply/flexibleentry.shtml. Students may register their online interest until 6 January 2011; it is not necessary to wait for HSC results.
International Students
If you are an international student, there are 3 methods of applying to the University.
1. Directly to the University.
2. Through a University representative (agent).
3. Through the Universities Admissions Centre - for international students applying on the basis of a current Australian Year 12 High School examination (whether studying inside or outside Australia), or studying either an International Baccalaureate in Australia or a New Zealand Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3.

The Camperdown and Darlington Campuses are home to the faculties of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, Architecture, Arts, Economics and Business, Education and Social Work, Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Veterinary Science.
Also located on this campus is the University's Centre for English Teaching
This 72-hectare site, located near the junction of Parramatta and City Roads, features landscaped grounds, sports ovals and centres, museums, galleries, two major complexes devoted to student recreation and services, and of course the famous Quadrangle and many other beautiful modern and historic buildings.
