About the institution
This is one of the largest and oldest fields of engineering. It combines electrical and electronic engineering disciplines. You can specialise in communication engineering, microelectronic, power or embedded systems.

As part of this course you will work on real problems and projects in the workplace and community.

Graduates of this course are equipped to:
• Be responsible for electricity generation and distribution
• Design complex electronic equipment
• Manage large industrial manufacturing plants
• Research and develop new energy sources
• Design and manage communications infrastructure (telephones, radio, TV and the internet)

Graduates can gain professional recognition by Engineers Australia and other professional bodies.

Admission information

The prerequisite subjects for admission into the first year of the course are based on entry at post Year 12, Victorian Certificate of Education, or equivalent level and are as follows. Persons transferring from other courses or having overseas or other entrance qualifications of at least equivalent standard should apply for admission in the normal manner. Full-fee paying international students must have qualifications which are equivalent to those listed above. In addition, they must provide evidence of proficiency in the English language:

* IELTS - an overall band score of 6+, subject to individual profile; or
* TOEFL - a score of 550+, and a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 5+.
Located within walking distance from the Footscray railway station, this campus occupies a seven-hectare site next to parklands along the Maribyrnong River. It is the administrative centre of the University and is the largest of all the campuses.

Take a train to Footscray station, or a local bus. It's 10 minutes by car from the city centre.
