Mechanical engineering is an extremely diverse field covering the design, development, construction, operation and maintenance of all types of motor vehicles, aircraft and ships as well as propulsion and power plants and mechanical and robotic components used in many industries. This degree is accredited by Engineers Australia.
At UNSW, all first year Engineering students, whether Flexible First Year or other (except Bioinformatics, Civil with Architecture, and Software Engineering), study a common first year. The subjects ensures you gain a broad knowledge base in mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals, and learn the basics of the profession.
The Faculty of Engineering at UNSW is recognised as one of the best in Australia. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings positioned Engineering at UNSW as number one in the country in 2007 and 2008, and number two in 2009.
