Surveying uses hi-tech measurement tools to precisely map the natural and built environment in support of construction, engineering and sustainable development. The degree of BE in Surveying is recognised by the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information of New South Wales as meeting the requirements for entry as a candidate to become a Registered Surveyor. The degree is also recognised by the Institution of Surveyors, New South Wales, the Spatial Sciences Institute and Engineers Australia, for admission as corporate members.
At UNSW, all first year Engineering students, whether Flexible First Year or other (except Bioinformatics, Civil with Architecture, and Software Engineering), study a common first year. The subjects ensures you gain a broad knowledge base in mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals, and learn the basics of the profession.
The Faculty of Engineering at UNSW is recognised as one of the best in Australia. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings positioned Engineering at UNSW as number one in the country in 2007 and 2008, and number two in 2009.
