About the institution
The Basic Care of Reptiles and Amphibians course is an introduction to commonly kept snakes, lizards, turtles and frogs, with special emphasis placed on the species now sold through pet shops in Queensland.

It is an ideal course for those interested in, or who have recently commenced keeping reptiles, or people working in the pet and wildlife industries and for wildlife carers. The course is recognised in providing appropriate training for pet shop staff who intend to sell or provide advice on reptiles to their customers. The course provides basic information on Qld legislation pertaining to the keeping of reptiles and amphibians, safe handling and transport of commonly held species, their general husbandry, diets, housing and hygiene.

It also provides details on where to access information and support services, products and equipment and offers a unique opportunity to see a wide range of species and gain an insight into their behaviour, biology and ecology in captivity and in the wild.
There are several options to enrol for this course. You may enrol over the phone, online (full payment is required) or in person. Students should fill the complete application form and send to Brisbane North Institute of TAFE, Locked Mail Bag Eagle Farm BC QLD 4009.
The Brisbane North Institute of TAFE has five campuses and several delivery points for its programmes; including correspondence learning, short courses, apprenticeships and traineeships.
