About the institution
The Apprenticeship in rural production is designed to develop a range of skills in animal health, husbandry and handling as well as tasks associated with pasture and crop production, agricultural vehicle, machinery and equipment operations.
Course Outline:

The course is an integrated on and off-the-job program of up to 3 years duration. (The hours of training are subject to which units are chosen by the apprentice, employer and trainer.) Contact the department for units of competency available.

NMIT's second fully operational farming property is located 25 kilometres north of Melbourne at Yan Yean. The 200 hectare property is dedicated to training students in cattle and deer farming, aquaculture and the production of medicinal herbs and essential oils.

The Growling Frog Vineyard at the Growling Frog Golf Course is located nearby. There is also 1.5 hectares under cultivation at Braemore Place, Beveridge.
