About the institution
The Certificate III in Fitness provides all the training necessary to work in the recreation industry and to contribute to the day-to-day running of recreational facilities and organisations. You will also do a 40-hour work placement in the fitness industry. NMIT has a fully equipped recreation centre at its Preston campus.

Based across the northern region of Melbourne, NMIT has six metropolitan campuses, Preston, Collingwood, Epping, Fairfield, Greensborough and Heidelberg, and a rural campus in Ararat. Each campus provides unique and enriching student experiences.

There are also six training centres, Northern Lodge – Eden Park, Northern Lodge - Yan Yean, Yarra Glen Racing Centre, Northern AMEP (Adult Migrant English Program) Centre in Broadmeadows, Growling Frog Vineyard and NMIT Kyneton Park.

New to NMIT for 2010 is Yarra House, which offers boutique student accommodation in the beautiful surrounds of the Fairfield campus.

In 2010 NMIT opened its Technical Education Centre at Heidelberg – a purpose-built facility for young people wanting to complete their secondary schooling with a practical focus. We have also commenced construction of a new Green Skills Centre of Excellence at our Epping Campus.

With over 74,000 course enrolments in 2009 (up 15.6% on 2008), NMIT offers over 500 nationally accredited courses, many which are available on either a full-time or part-time basis. It also provides over 400 institute-accredited courses.

NMIT is made up of seven faculties, Arts & Social Sciences, Building & Construction, Business, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Further Education and Hospitality, Tourism & Personal Services – providing a comprehensive suite of training and courses in Melbourne.

NMIT currently offers three-year, specialist bachelor degrees in Accounting, Agriculture & Land Management, Aquaculture, Australian Popular Music, Equine Studies, Hospitality Management, Illustration, Viticulture & Winemaking and Writing & Publishing. There is a number of other programs currently in development and they will be posted onto the website as soon as they are finalised.
