If you aspire to gain your locksmith’s security licence, this Open Colleges foundation course is highly recommended as a practical starting point.
You will be trained to use locksmith tools, identify different types of locks and keys and cut new keys. You will also learn about safety deposit locks, emergency exits, key duplicating machines, car keys, wiring and circuits, and automatic door servicing. The course includes an introduction to business practices and legal considerations for locksmiths.

- Locksmith's padlock kit.
