About the institution
The course provides competency based vocational education to enable learners to acquire practical and technical skills and the underpinning knowledge required to apply these skills to a variety of production horticulture enterprises.
This course is for people in the sheep and wool industry with industry experience who wish to become professional wool classers. It also provides the underpinning knowledge required to apply these skills in the workplace.
You will learn technical, supervisory and management skills that a professional wool classer and shed manager in a shearing shed should have. You will also be able to apply occupational health, safe working practices and quality assurance practices to industry standards.
On successful completion of this course you will be eligible to register with AWEX as a Registered Woolclasser, which enables you to class wool clips throughout Australia.
This course is also suitable for owners of sheep and wool operations who wish to enhance their technical knowledge and skills and become registered as a wool classer so that they can class wool clips.
Please attend the Information and Enrolment Session on Friday 28 January 2011 between 12.00pm and 7.00pm in Room BG 24 at Richmond College, cnr Blacktown Road and Campus Drive, Richmond.
