After you’ve completed a Course in Plumbing at Sunshine Coast TAFE, you can flow on to applying for a Queensland Building Services Authority (QBSA) Contractors Licence. Upon successful completion of this course and after you’ve received your Full or Open Licence from the Plumbers and Drainer Board and/or a Gas Work Licence (issued by the Department of Mines and Energy), you will be eligible to apply to the QBSA for a Contractors Licence.
Throughout this course you’ll learn how to plan, size and layout: sanitary drainage systems; stormwater drainage systems; domestic treatment plant disposal systems; consumer gas installations; sanitary pipework and fixtures; and hot and cold water services/systems. We’ll also teach you how to estimate and cost work, establish business and legal requirements and carry out work based risk control processes.
Once you have decided on your chosen program then your next step is to enrol. Some courses you can enrol on directly – this means that all you have to do is Contact Us for an enrolment pack – or call into one of our campuses during opening times.
Other courses require an application form so that the tutors can make sure you are applying for the right level program.
Other programs require you to apply through Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) – you can obtain more information and forms from their website.

Facilities at the Noosa Centre include ceramics studios with high-tech firing kilns, art studios and a flexible learning centre providing computers for students to use.
