This is the industry recommended competency pathway for financial planners who provide a range of standard financial planning services and for individuals who provide specialist para-planning services. In addition to the Diploma qualification containing one ASIC RG146 component, students also complete three ASIC RG146 product knowledge components covering Superannuation, Risk and Investment.
In order to become a Financial Planner, you need to have a qualification that demonstrates your understanding of the financial planning fundamentals as well as meeting ASIC RG146 compliance. The AIFA's Diploma of Financial Planning is an approved training course listed on ASIC's training register and is also a nationally recognised qualification.
This course contains 15 Units of Competency as follows:
- Develop and use complex spreadsheets,
- Apply principles of professional practice to work in the financial services industry,
- Contribute to OHS hazard identification and risk assessment,
- Comply with financial planning practice ethical and operational guidelines/regulations,
- Conduct financial planning analysis and research,
- Develop and prepare financial plan,
- Implement Financial Plan,
- Review financial plan and provide ongoing service,
- Determine client requirements and expectations,
- Conduct product research to support recommendations,
- Provide appropriate services, advice and products to clients,
- Provide advice in Financial Planning,
- Record and implement client instructions,
- Conduct complex financial planning research,
- Provide advice in Superannuation,
- Provide advice in Life Insurance and
- Provide advice in Managed Investments.
