The global marine and charter boat industry is continuing to grow and present outstanding career opportunities. Combining the skills and facilities of William Angliss Institute and Sandringham Yacht Club, this exciting program provides students with employment opportunities in marinas, charter yachts, international 'white boats' and yacht clubs.
The multi-skilling nature of this course is particularly useful in the charter and white boat industry, where crew need to perform several different functions within one role. Water sports can be one of the biggest drawcards to a resort, and guests just can't wait to hit that azure blue water as soon as they check in.
1. Students will be trained in conducting the popular water activities of sailing, snorkelling and kayaking.
2. Most of the specialty training is conducted as weekly sessions at our training partners, either Sandringham Yacht Club or Aquatic Adventures in Rye.
3. The Coxswains course is a three-week program covering training in driving commercial vessels and safety procedures.
4. Students learn hospitality including food & beverage, first aid, resort reception and office procedures and safety and risk procedures.
5. Business training includes financial, legal, marketing, HR and property studies.
In second year subjects are oriented towards management and students will have the option to join an overseas study tour. Students will obtain the recreational boat license, TL3 powerboat license, Coxswains qualification, Marine Radio Operator, and will become instructors in sailing, sea kayaking, snorkelling and First Aid.
