Food Technology and Nutrition/Chemical Engineering – Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering (Double Degree)

A double degree in food technology and nutrition and chemical engineering opens up a world of possibilities.
For example, take the simple concept of a food mixer, upscale it to industrial size, mix cocoa, milk and a number of other substances, extrude it through a pipe, and there you have it—your favourite chocolate bar. You’ll have designed the plant, the process and the product.
As a food industry professional, you will have the advantage of both food science and engineering skills, giving you an edge in developing a competitive product. This degree provides you with in-depth studies of food science, including food microbiology, food preservation, proteins, lipids and carbohydrates in food science, as well as a full range of chemical engineering courses such as process principles, transfer processes, equipment design and process control.
This degree is ideal if you’re interested in:
1. developing new products, design processes and packaging
2. a broader range of roles in the food processing industry
3. making processing industries work more efficiently.
