The Graduate Diploma of Science is intended for people who hold a pass degree but who are ineligible for entry to honours at this University, or who wish to undertake further study for one or both of the following reasons: (1) they wish to proceed to master's candidature; and/or (2) they wish to obtain advanced qualification in a specific area of expertise.
(1) Programmes in many subject areas are similar to honours as set out in the Rules for the relevant Bachelor of Science honours programs in Rule 9.2.8A.
(2) Selection of the units to be studied and research topics to be undertaken is done in consultation with the course coordinator in the relevant school or interdisciplinary programme.
