Master of Economics

The Masters in Economics program at JCU is designed to prepare graduates to be economic analysts in the public or private sectors and also provides students with the necessary foundations in economics and econometrics to proceed to a PhD within Australia or abroad.
The program can be completed by coursework (with an option to complete a minor thesis), or by research thesis only.

The Master of Economics by research is designed for students who have an honours degree in economics. There is no formal coursework . The research program requires the completion of a supervised thesis that shows sound knowledge of the subject matter, independent thought and effective research skills. It normally takes one to two year of full-time study to complete.

The Master of Economics program by coursework is designed for students who have an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than economics. It is a two-year full-time program with a normal course of study similar to that shown below.
