About the institution
The Schools Facilitating Adolescence Advocacy and Agency subject investigates and analyses the strategies and skills that constitute effective pedagogy for adolescents. Special attention will be afforded to the physical and emotional factors that contribute to the adolescent's formation of self and the significant role of 'mentoring' in this ongoing discovery. This subject is essentially concerned with developing understandings of how to assist adolescents find and recognise 'pathways' they will will travel and have travelled. Attention will be given to the personal, social and cultural elements that regulate and contribute to a sense of agency. Agency will be considered to be the force for advocacy - that is, as middle years educators, students will acquire the philosophical orientations and practical skills that will allow them to model advocacy and encourage their students to be advocates of what is just and meaningful to them and their lives.
