This qualification provides an introduction to the construction industry, its culture, occupations, job roles and workplace expectations. The units of competency cover essential occupational health and safety requirements, communication skills, work planning, and basic use of tools and materials. The qualification is built around a basic construction project that integrates construction skills and embeds the facets of employability skills in context. There are no specific job outcomes for this qualification, but the skills achieved will assist in successfully undertaking a Certificate II, or will facilitate entry to an Australian Apprenticeship.
Applicants are advised to apply through the Victorian Tertiary Admission Centre for full-time Programs published in the VTAC Guide and apply direct to the University of Ballarat (TAFE Division) for part-time TAFE Programs, the programs not listed in the VTAC Guide. Completed application form should be submitted online.
