This course aims to provide graduate students in maritime archaeology with a thorough grounding in the various approaches used in Australia and around the world to the management, legislation and interpretation of underwater cultural heritage; introduce students to the theory, methods and practice of underwater cultural heritage legislation, management and interpretation; provide students with opportunities to learn and apply underwater cultural heritage management, planning and interpretation skills to practical case studies. Understand the major issues relating to underwater cultural heritage legislation, management and interpretation; the components of underwater cultural heritage surveys, management reports and interpretative plans, from conception to submission; apply the skills associated with effective development of legislation, management and interpretation of underwater cultural heritage sites.
