The first three week of this course will focus on hand building techniques, Introduce participants to hollowing, Take participants through the steps, Participants are shown images of work created using hollowing, Students create hollowed object, Introduce slab construction, Discuss technical aspects and demonstrate, Discuss rolling slabs, strengthening slabs and joining technique, Create small slab-formed object and discussion of coil forming and the potential of this technique. The second 3 weeks will focus on surface/finishing techniques, Look at various surface techniques including graffito, inlay, slip decoration, burnishing etc. participants experiment with these techniques, Using on of the objects created in the first 3 weeks, participants will plan, then decorate final piece using one or more of the surface techniques, Works to be fired, Finishing touches and underglaze techniques will be discussed.
