Overview
Brisbane North Institute of TAFE (BNIT) is one of the largest institutes of its kind in Queensland, with seven campuses across Brisbane’s northern suburbs and numerous delivery points, servicing more than 30,000 students each year.
BNIT is committed to providing quality education and leadership for the benefit of its students and the wider community, and offers an extensive range of programs from certificates, to diplomas and advanced diplomas.
A large range of apprenticeships and traineeships are also available at BNIT, where students can learn and gain qualifications while they work.
Through BNIT and TAFE Open Learning students can also access the My Learning Short Course Collection, which offers a wide variety of short courses to upgrade skills for employment, or cultivate creative talents.
All BNIT programs are delivered by our highly-qualified teachers, having both academic and industry experience in their chosen fields. Our teachers provide industry-current, hands-on learning using the latest and most effective teaching methods, making use of BNIT’s world-class facilities and services.

Campuses:
Brisbane North Institute of TAFE (BNIT) delivers its courses from five campuses located in the city’s northern suburbs, each within easy access of the city centre and with excellent public transport links.

Bracken Ridge Campus
BNIT’s leafy Bracken Ridge Campus is about 20km from the city centre. The campus is easily accessible and well serviced by public transport. Brisbane Transport and Queensland Rail City train operate fully-integrated bus and rail services from both the city and Carseldine rail station directly to BNIT’s Bracken Ridge campus.
The Bracken Ridge campus includes an art studio, computer labs, a learning information centre, food science laboratory, Polaris (our state-of-the-art commercial training kitchen, restaurant and bar), a Learning Hub (library) and a 200-seat lecture theatre. The campus also houses the Crest Point practice firm, a small company managed by BNIT’s Business students.
Caboolture Campus
Located in the heart of Caboolture, an urban centre 44km north of Brisbane’s city centre, BNIT’s Caboolture Campus provides extensive training in business, management, justice administration, business administration, aged care, nursing, community and human services, information technology, literacy, language and migrant education, hairdressing, hospitality, horticulture and vocational access.
This campus also houses Isabella's Restaurant/Coffee Shop and Swish's Hairdressing Salon - training facilities for our hospitality and hairdressing students, both of which are open to the public.
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is co-located with BNIT at the Caboolture Campus, offering both university and TAFE courses from one single location.
Located in central Caboolture, the campus is a 20 minute walk from the Caboolture train station.
Grovely Campus
BNIT’s Grovely Campus is a very welcoming and attractive campus to study at, located about 9 km from the city in a leafy Brisbane suburb. This campus provides a centre of learning excellence for horticultural trades and careers. Classrooms and training areas are surrounded by lawns, gardens, nurseries, reclaimed forest areas, and golf courses. The campus sits near the impressive Brisbane State Forest Park, enclosing 16 separate recreation areas.
BNIT’s Grovely campus is within easy walking distance of both Brisbane City Council bus routes and Grovely train station.
Ithaca Campus
BNIT’s Ithaca Campus is located in the inner city suburb of Red Hill, opposite the Broncos' Leagues Club in Fulcher Street. The campus is close to Brisbane’s city centre and is well serviced by public transport.
Housing many modern facilities, the Ithaca campus offers a multitude of training opportunities including art studios, business, tourism, and information technology classrooms, interior design and graphic design studios, and state-of-the-art beauty salon facilities.

Redcliffe Campus
BNIT’s Redcliffe Campus is situated about 35 minutes’ drive north of Brisbane and is within easy walking distance of the Redcliffe central business area and nearby Redcliffe beach, offering a relaxed learning environment.
BNIT’s Redcliffe campus offers business and office administration studies as well as progressive education in English for migrants, adult literacy and numeracy, learning and life skills, childcare, community and human services.
Equipped with state-of-the-art wireless technology, campus facilities include a Learning Hub (library) and a learning information centre.
BNIT Open Learning
BNIT offers over 80 courses online through the Open Learning program. Enrolled students can participate in their courses and access learning material at any time, from anywhere, through online learning portal my.TAFE.

Students applying for a place at Brisbane North Institute of TAFE (BNIT) need to submit a completed application form and provide the following along with the application: Copies of results of highest level of schooling undertaken Details of all courses or subjects studied since leaving school Details of previous work experience Residential Status Mention of any Special Entry Groups (see application form), if applicable. Any other voluntary information |
Selection into BNIT will be based on:
-satisfaction of minimum entry requirements for each course
-school results
-prior work experience
-other criteria as determined by the Faculty for specific courses
