TROPICAL NORTH INSTITUTE OF TAFE

The Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE offers a wide range of nationally recognised programmes and courses over eight campuses. The institute's focuses on developing essential workplace skills and knowledge through its apprenticeship and traineeship programmes. 

The institute offers certificate and diploma courses in:

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs,
• arts and music,
• business,
• education and training,
• health and community care,
• language and literacy,
• information technology,
• marine,
• pre- apprenticeship,
• tourism and hospitality,
• beauty, fashion, hairdessing,
• massage,  and other short courses.

International students can undertake approved courses such as:

• horticulture,
• tourism,
• hospitality including cookery and bakery,
• massage therapy,
• information technology and
• English language training for students whose first languages are not English.

Tropical North Queensland TAFE is also approved to take in international students into courses offered at the:

• Barrier Reef TAFE (Townsville),
• Southern Queensland TAFE (Toowoomba) and
• Wide Bay TAFE (Harvey Bay).

The institute also works with secondary schools to offer high school students the opportunity to attain TAFE qualifications while completing high school. Know as the TAFE Secondary School (TAFESEC) programmes, the available courses and programmes are:

• business management,
• community care,
• fashion,
• health,
• hospitality,
• Indigenous studies, and
• tourism and trades.

Like most TAFE institutions, the Tropical North Queensland Institute also offers an online flexible learning system, where students can plan how a learning mode and timetable that best suits them.
