Info on the mine ventilation course at the University of New South Wales would be appreciated. Do I need to be working in the mining industry to undertake this course or is it available for me to gain this qualification and then apply for jobs?

The objectives for the Graduate Diploma in Mine Ventilation are to provide competency based education and training in key aspects of underground environmental engineering. The Diploma is delivered via course notes on CD, learning guides, online presentations, face-to-face tutorials, reference books and email. The course is structured so that it can be tailored to the needs of either the metalliferous or coal mining sectors.

It’s assumed upon entering the course that you will have underground experience to understand mining technology and appreciate operational issues associated with the course content. You will also need to be proficient in mathematics and the use of spreadsheets.
