Design and digital media encompasses a huge range of creative careers, including website creation, film and television prodction, video games, as well as interior and graphic design.

A qualification will not only show employers you have the technical know-how to bring your ideas to life, but will also provide you with a portfolio of work to showcase your talents.




Studying Design and Digital Media

A degree in design is much different to a degree in digital media, however both offer careers in technology based creative specialisations.

Available as a Bachelor or Master degree, or as a certificate, design and digital media courses will expect you to work creatively across a range of disciplines, with practical techniques and concepts.

Most courses will involve practical elements, including learning how to use different software and hardware which are relevant to your design or digital media career. In this way, you will build a portfolio throughout your study which will ultimately make you more employable when looking for design and digital media jobs.

University degrees may also cover the theory of these specialties, to equip graduates with a sound knowledge of the history of their area of expertise.

Careers in Design and Digital Media

Job prospects are good for graduates of design and digital media degrees. Graduates from these degrees can work as an in-house designer, or alternatively can choose to work as a freelance designer, which means that they work independently on a contract basis with a range of design and digital media companies.
