Beauty training can take the form of makeup courses, waxing courses, aromatherapy courses, nail training, body treatment and facial treatment courses. Most courses in beauty will combine beauty training with customer service, cash handling and sales skills, which will increase your employability. |
Most people interested in beauty courses will get a one-year full-time beauty diploma or beauty certificate from beauty therapy schools or a beauty therapy college, such as Certificates in Make-Up Artistry, Nail Technology or Beauty Therapy. These courses focus on specific issues of beauty treatments, such as manicures, pedicures, nail art, massage advantages, basic anatomy, skin issues, among others.

Studying Hairdressing
Studying hairdressing qualifications can be done in hairdressing colleges or hairdressing schools.
The most common courses are Certificates in Hairdressing (from I to IV) with an approximate duration between 22 and 52 weeks on a full-time basis. You will need to complete the previous certificate as a pre-requisite for the following. For example, if you wish to study Certificate II in Hairdressing, you will need Certificate I in Hairdressing.
These courses are usually followed by an apprenticeship in a hairdressing salon and further study in order to obtain the title of senior hairdresser.
For those interested in owning or managing their own business or salon, there is also a Diploma of Hairdressing Salon Management. This diploma covers hairdressing skills, as well as basic knowledge in relation to the business functioning of a salon, including sales, management and financing.
