Overview of Theatre
Commonly studied at a performing arts school or theatre college, the world of theatre and production is quite different.
Students usually study theatre if they want to become an actor or a film, stage and television writer/director. They may aspire to become part of a theatre show as an actor or be the director of one.

Studying Theatre
Offered to students as certificates, diplomas, degrees or even a master, common courses that are studied are: an advanced diploma of film, television and theatre acting, a bachelor of arts - applied theatre, bachelor of theatre studies and a master of theatre design.
These can be studied at universities, theatre colleges, drama schools and performing arts schools such as the Actors College of Theatre and Television.
Often you will learn the different aspects of theatre from the actor to the audience member. You may also learn how to create new performances and the importance of events and small theatre companies.
The general entry requirements for studying theatre often require an audition and also successful completion of year 12 or equivalent.
Careers in Theatre
You can often become an actor, director or writer in the arts or humanities fields. You also have the option to become a drama teacher - not only will you be able to teach students your skills, but you will also be able to practice them as well.
Skills needed in Theatre
General skills needed for theatre studies are a positive attitude, well developed oral communication skills, an outgoing nature, good teamwork skills and creativity.
